Electronically Connected to All Your
Supplier's Quality, Performance and Management Systems.
CIS has the Tools!
Controlling Your
Supplier Base Using CIS - Large corporations may not have a need
for CIS Software for their own applications because they generally
have an integrated information system that has been in use for many
years that meets their requirements for management and quality
assurance. However, their system does not integrate with their
supplier base and does not provide for a complete control over their
suppliers other than simple reporting of nonconformities,
engineering approvals and purchasing.
Most larger corporations have a
supplier control department that will audit and approve suppliers to
ensure that the suppliers are capable of meeting their stringent
requirements. Additionally, the supplier control department will
monitor and perform periodic audits of the suppliers to ensure
continued conformance to their specifications.
This approach, although effective in
controlling the quality, is very expensive when the travelling
expenses and time to audit is factored into the overall cost.
CIS Software offers larger
corporations a solution that is more effective and far less costly.
If the suppliers to a large corporation are using the CIS Software,
then the supplier control department can perform electronic audits
of their systems far more often without the huge travelling expense.
CIS will also offer immediate reporting of supplier issues and their
resolutions.
The following are some examples on
how CIS can work together with the suppliers to provide a more
effective control of suppliers with a huge savings in cost:
- The corporation can use the CIS
document control for supplier specific documents and
specifications that will allow all the suppliers to have
instant access to the most current documents and to the history
of each of these documents revisions;
- The supplier control department can
access each supplier's CIS System electronically and review all
of their quality system, performance statistics, nonconformity
and corrective actions and much more to evaluate continued
conformance to specifications and requirements without
performing an on-site review;
- CIS can send instant notifications to
selected corporate department representatives when problems
arise that require input from the corporation, including full
descriptions, pictures and uploaded reports and files. These
reports are numbered and the information is never lost;
- CIS provides for follow-up
notifications when issues are not resolved in a set-time frame
(Late);
- The corporation can monitor the
supplier's management meetings, process improvements, internal
audits performed, incoming inspections, calibrations, work
orders and other important quality management elements;
- All of the supplier's documentation,
process approvals and special requirements and work instructions
can be monitored and revisions to these documents can also be
monitored and approved;
CIS software provides a completely
integrated solution for large corporations that is good for the
corporation and good for the suppliers. The suppliers will be able
to simplify their own ISO system and use the CIS software to ensure
continued compliance with regulatory, customer and ISO 9001:2000
requirements. Although the suppliers may have an upfront cost and
monthly support/licensing fees, the savings that they will obtain by
using the CIS software will certainly be worthwhile.
